Hi, I’m Chanèle!
…and I tell authentic and compelling stories for a living.
My fascination with storytelling began at a young age. In fact, I was the first person in my Grade 2 class to read 100 books — my claim to fame! Today, I feel lucky to have crafted a meaningful career around what I’ve always loved.
I leverage my extensive educational background and 6+ years of digital marketing, public relations and communications expertise in the public and private sector to help organizations tell their stories - online and offline. Currently, I lead employer branding at Capital One Canada.
Outside of work, I enjoy telling my own stories. As the Founder & Editor-in-Chief of Do Well Dress Well, a career lifestyle website for women, I’ve cultivated a loyal community around my articles on personal branding, networking, professional development and style. We’ve partnered with brands such as Nine West, Microsoft Store, Outlet Collection at Niagara, Capsule Books and more. I also run an initiative called Confidence Through Conferences to help get more diverse women into conferences by minimizing the financial barrier.
Passionate about advancing women through professional development, I also serve as a board member for Young Women in Business Toronto, Notable Life and Humber College’s Content Strategy program. I’m a personal branding + public speaking mentor for the Tease Tea Founders Fund and I contribute to the future of diverse thought leadership as the Director of Programming at non-profit organization, Women and Color. We’ve successfully created an incredible speaker bootcamp that equips women, people of colour and LGBTQA+ folks with the skills and confidence to amplify their voice.
I speak regularly at universities, colleges, conferences and organizations across North America. In March 2019, I delivered my first TEDx talk at TEDxUofTMississauga on The Art of The Purposeful Pivot (coming online soon!). I’ve spoken for organizations such as Royal Bank of Canada, City of Toronto and Humber College and I’ve been featured by CBC Toronto, Bay St.Bull and a number of podcasts. I have also been quoted in outlets such as Forbes, Refinery29 and Bustle. I’m humbled to have been recognized as one of PR in Canada’s Top 30 Under 30, one of the Top 100 Black Women to Watch and one of the Top 25 Women of Influence.
I hold my Honours Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from McMaster University with a minor in Sociology, post-graduate certificate in Public Relations from Humber College and certificates in Digital Marketing Management and User Experience Design from University of Toronto’s School of Continuing Studies and Brainstation, respectively.
When I’m not working, speaking, writing and serving my community - you can typically find me strolling through the aisles of my local bookstore in search of my next read, bingeing on the latest Netflix series or snacking on popcorn with extra butter.
