Hi, I’m Chanèle!

I was the first person in my Grade 2 class to read 100 books. They may have been picture books, but hey, they still count…right?!

Today, I still have that same love for reading and when I’m not working, you’ll likely find me curled up in my favourite corner of the couch with a cozy blanket and book in hand.

In April 2020, I became a first-time mom. With my maternity leave coinciding with the pandemic quarantine, I found myself with a whole lot of time to read a ton more books - not just for me but to my daughter too!

I created a #bookstagram account in June 2020 (an Instagram account dedicated to books) to share what I’m reading to myself and my baby.

  • My favourite book is Snow Flower and The Secret Fan by Lisa See

  • I’m a first-time mom to my daughter, Eden. As a Black woman raising a Black child, it’s important to me that I add books to her collection with characters that look like her!
